• Provided Competent Person Training, Confined Space Entry, Flagger, CPR/First
Aid, and
• Continuing Education courses.
• Joined in coalition to fight the proposed “Hometown Democracy”
anti-growth amendment.
• Co-Sponsored the 3rd Annual South Florida Construction Career Days.
• Kept members informed on critical legislative issues affecting the underground
utility industry.
• Went to Tallahassee and successfully lobbied the Legislature for limits
on use of OCIP’s.
• Conducted the 3rd Annual Wage & Equipment Rental Survey which provided
vital statistical
• information necessary in today’s
competitive job market.
• Lobbied with NUCA for the reauthorization of the Clean Water Act which
would provide funding
• to repair and rehabilitate water and wastewater
facilities across the country.
• Worked with UUCF to get Worker’s Comp Insurance reform passed.
• Awarded over $108,000 in scholarships to students since 1985.
• Hosted an annual Golf Tournament as a fundraiser for the UCA Scholarship
Fund.
• Held general membership meetings with informative speakers and programs.
• Conducted monthly meetings of the UCA Board of Directors.
• Met with Palm Beach County to review and make recommendations on revisions
to the County’s
• Water& Sewer Standards.
• Provided recommendations to Broward County Office of Equal Opportunity
re: proposed revisions
• to the County’s Small Disadvantaged
Business Enterprise Ordinance.
• Represented the industry on the Palm Beach and Broward County Utility
Coordinating Council.
• Published bi-monthly issues of our magazine, UCA Reports.
• Supplied informative updates on the availability of safety training
and education opportunities.
• Provided representation at construction coalitions in Dade, Broward
and Palm Beach counties.
• Representation present from South Florida at UUCF and NUCA meetings
and conventions.
• Sponsored social events for family, friends, employees, and associates,
including the upcoming
• Dolphin Fishing Tournament, Christmas Party,
and Golf Tournaments.
• Offered excellent networking opportunities.
UCA’s
primary goals are to ensure the flow of clean water to the citizens of South
Florida, increase
awareness of our valued infrastructure, protect the environment of South Florida
and enhance and
promote the interest of the utility construction industry at all levels of government.
